Here's an interesting call for papers from The Stanford Law & Policy Review:
The Stanford Law & Policy Review is soliciting articles for an upcoming symposium on “Law and Adult Entertainment.” The Stanford Law & Policy Review is a well-respected academic journal at Stanford Law School that explores current issues at the nexus of law and public policy. For each issue we solicit articles from prominent practitioners, policy makers, professors, judges, lawyers, political leaders, regulators, economists, and other experts. Past contributors include President (then Governor) Bill Clinton, Senator John McCain, and Governor Jeb Bush.
Submissions may cover any subject that fits within the symposium topic’s broad framework. The symposium is focused on legal issues unique to the adult entertainment industry, especially those that legal scholarship does not commonly address.
We are particularly interested in including the following topics in the “Law and Adult Entertainment” symposium, but this list is not exhaustive:
- Labor unions and the pornography industry
- Politics and pornography regulation
- Obscenity law (enforcement, potential improvements, current challenges)
- Mental health issues (freedom of contract vs. exploitation)
- Efficacy of child pornography laws
- Workplace safety in the pornography industry, condoms, and regulation
- Online pornography and intellectual property
- Pornography addiction (legal and regulatory implications)
- Sex trafficking, prostitution, and adult entertainment
- State regulation of adult entertainment
Our goal is to have a well-rounded symposium that contributes new and useful ideas, as well as potential solutions, on this important range of topics. Selected articles will be published in May 2012. Authors will be invited to present their articles at a conference on “Law and Adult Entertainment” at Stanford University.
We will accept article submissions until August 1, 2011. Articles should be between ten and forty double-spaced pages, not including footnotes and citations.
Also, if you have an idea for an article, but have not written it yet, we may be able to pre-approve your article for publication. Please submit a one to four page proposal to us by May 16 for pre-approval. The earlier we receive a proposal, the greater the chance we can pre-approve it. All articles and proposals should be submitted via e-mail to slpr.adult.entertainment@gmail.com.
